New Engine?

A dealer told me part of the reason the base price went up on the V8 was due to a modified engine that was being installed in the new touaregs. I've heard this from a friend too, but I have yet to see any evidence that this is the case. Anyone have information on whether or not this is true, and if so, what the difference in the engine is?

The new V8's are modified. The new ones are FSI direct injection, which means new heads, injectors, fuel rails and pumps. You guys are lucky your V8's cost $48900 american new. Our New Zealand V8's which are the same apart from the left hand right hand drive things cost $80000 American. Not that I can afford one I'm just a touareg technician ha ha.
