Hi everyone! First post here, I just got a letter in the mail regarding a new "Software Modification" for my Gen 2.1 Touareg. I've previously had my full "fix" done a few years ago, and they're coming up with a new Software flash for certain models that had issues it seems. Anyone else get this fix done? They state it won't "adversely impact" drivability and fuel economy. Who's going to be the guinea pig on this? This is of course a voluntary flash.

Just got the letter today. I'm one of those who got the falsely illuminated "check engine" light after I had the AEM done. It occurred about 2 months afterwards. VW had to replace the DPF again and a few sensors. Dieselgate must be costing them a fortune and these check engine lights are only adding insulte to injury. They should have done a better job of testing their fix before putting it out. I can only guess that with this newest recall, they are changing the parameters of when the ECU detects a fault.

Also got mine today. I've had the check engine light come on and go off a couple of times for particulate filter faults. It's been off for over a month, so probably too sensitive and that is why they are updating it.

For search-ability: "Service Action 23AK"

Nothing over on TDI Club either.

Since it is voluntary.... I will wait.

I have the same problem (2011, too). I have been told that the tcm from yrktreg helps. I have one but have not had the chance to toss it in, just yet.
That is good to know- be interesting to know if it fixes your problem when you install it.

The TCM flash helps for sure, but every now and then, I still get a stutter / hiccup while driving and the engine is still warming up.. only happens at very light throttle, any gear. Malone stage 2 off-road / Yrk's TCM flash

Once upon a time (possibly fictional story) VW put out an Adblue system that was not so good. In fact, the managers were yelling at the engineers about the warranty costs, since too many were failing under warranty. The VW engineers figured out that they started breaking at XXX numbers of hours of use. Well, the engineers reasoned if we just did a software update and put less hours on them, the adblue systems would make it out of the warranty period. The repair would fall on the owner. The engineers overseer's were very pleased and the proceeded to yell about a different problem.

Considering that VW put out adblue systems that were failing under warranty and then did an software update to delay the error from showing up until after the factory warranty was finished... This very idea brings back flashbacks of previous VW misconduct.

Yeah, more info on this is in the court transcripts.

I have the same issue, but I only have the TCM flash. I haven't gotten a letter yet though.
Who's gonna be the guinea pig on this?

Most likely the Gov't only gave them so long to comply so it was get it out to avoid fines and penalities and improve later...

My wife hasn't complained about the car shuddering while warming up but I might have this done next week since the treg is going to have to go back under the knife for the 3rd time to fix the EGR coolant leak...since they keep replacing other parts and ignoring what I send them and then proclaim it fixed. I'm done arguing with these yahoos...have at it, I'm under warranty.

I’ve got a slight miss at slow speed. Seems to come and go. Replaced fuel filter and thought it helped for first few days now back doing it again. Been doing this though off and on since I bought the vehicle last year with just under 40k on it. Now has 85k.

I've experienced the shutter and the MIL on my 2016 Lux. Was at dealer yesterday with copy of letter in hand asking them to do the flash while the vehicle was in for routine service. Surprisingly, they told me they can't download the new software until January 7. Leave it to VW to send thousands of letter for a voluntary recall its dealers aren't ready to perform. Now I'll have to make a special trip back just for the flash.

I had my 2013 TDI Lux in for a service on Jan 2 and they couldn't do the recall, thy didn't know anything about it, didn't want to discuss it or even look at the letter. I have had good service at my dealer in the past. The demeanor of the service writer and the price of the 60k service leave me wanting to go to the VW / Audi private garage where we took my wife's Audi before she sold it. I guess I will have to make at least one more trip to the dealer to get the recall done at some point. I don't mind the little shudder on start up as it reminds me my Treg is actually a diesel.
