The unit on the glove box is the main infotainment brain, not a CD player. The rear camera goes through a processing module (two types depending on if you have Area View or not), then onto the brain in the glovebox, then sent to the display unit via a LVDS cable. It's not a standard VGA signal like most aftermarket systems. You can probably get an aftermarket rear view camera assembly (it's integrated into the rear hatch release button).

Brendanm, Thanks for your positive contributions. Sorry you are angry at the world. I was just asking for pin outs and thought this would be a good place to ask. Thankfully chewblekka and drGER were kind enough to provide useful information.

You have no idea what I have. You missed a major point that I made in that the stock sound system sounds like crap. Glad you are happy with a crappy sounding system.

The aftermarket radio is working just fine along with sub and amp I installed. I was just trying to get the stock camera to work. If it doesn’t, no big deal. I have mirrors.

There may be others that are interested in upgrading their sound systems and I am happy to report what I have done and what has worked well and what hasn’t as far as connectivity.

I know exactly what you have, an rns850. Yes, stock it sounds like crap. It sounds like crap because of the processing. Use the dynaudio mod to get rid of that. If that isn't enough for you, fit a DSP. Head unit has near 0 effect on sound quality these days. You have taken a very difficult solution to a simple problem.

 

I have a 2010 V6 I had to retire a separate camera for the unit I installed as it was no compatible with the existing camera. Not a very big issue for me.
