I am looking at purchasing a 2012 certified Touareg Executive TDI with 10,000 miles. The dealership is asking $53,000 for it. I think the price is a bit high, but need some advice if I am being unreasonable offering $50,000?

Thank you!!!

You can buy a 2013 TDI exec for 55 to 56 k after negotiation brand new. I would offer them 45 k and would not pay over 48 k. If they don't take that I would look at new. The 2013 has the updated engine and better financing. Plus you get the full warranty and the 36 months of maintenance. In your position this would be my decision factors.

Wow that's rough.
What area of the country?

Have you tried the Costco or TrueCar programs?
(if you have Amex I found the Amex interface for TrueCar was easier to work with)

Costco's auto buying program shows invoice for a fully loaded Touareg TDI Executive is 58k fully loaded. I have used this service several times at participating dealerships and works great, but the prices reflect on in stock vehicles. Usually the mark up is a couple of hundred dollars depending on the vehicle. I am looking for a Gray or Silver Touareg TDi Executive fully loaded with the rubber mat kit, towing package and mud guards. If anyone can get a lower price please let me know? I am in the Pennsylvania area, but will travel for the right price!!!

Thanks

Try calling Chris Farnham here:

Volkswagen of Langhorne

Lots of folk on here use him and recommend him for great warranty prices but he also has a good new car reputation on other forums too.

For reference. I am in little rock. I just bought a black on black 2013 TDI exec 3 weeks ago. It has both sets of mats and trailer package. It stickered above 60000. I got it for 56450 with very little negotiation. I didn't have a trade either. It ended up being 700 under invoice. Keep looking and keep to your price. There is always another dealer and another touareg out there.

PM sent.

Also if you test drove the CPO and liked it I don't think that $50,000 is unreasonable.

I was trying to go CPO recently on DW vehicle and found dealers more or less inflexible across the board regardless of brand.

Thank you!!!

I want to thank everyone on this Website as well as those who directly assisted me in making a decision on purchasing a Touareg. I decided to go new versus CPO, due to the fact that I can purchase a new for a couple of thousand more with peace of mind. As far as Chris Farnham of Lanhorne Volkswagen, everything said about him is true. He is a straight shooter and has given me the best price in the area. Well worth the phone call, now we just have to finalize our deal.

Thanks!!!;)
