I'm finalising a purchase on an R-Line through a dealer.

It was first registered in April 2015 and has 23,000km and is being sold at a considerable discount.

I have negotiated a genuine VW towbar as part of the deal.

I'm just wondering what the Touareg community recommends that I request from the dealer in terms of correcting or preventing common problems etc, or anything that I should get them to inspect.

Thanks!

ok..let's get one thing straight here...I'm jealous :)

Now, welcome and congrats on the purchase. I'm sure our resident R specialist will be along soon (Singh).

I'm not sure if there are ANY issues to be concerned about with the r LINE.

Congrats mate. I've only done 5k on my Rline- been travelling a bit and still have the V10 that i quite enjoy driving.
Cant suggest anything or report any issues besides the fact some have reported steering pull towards left so get dealer to align after a test run and get them to update nav maps to latest as relevant
All the best

I'm jealous of your R32 - I sold it last year and miss it every day!

Singh - yes the mechanic of a friend of mine has an R Line and it chewed the front tyres very quickly so he has also recommended an alignment, I'll also get them to update the maps.

Finance approved, R-Line incoming!

I'm having a VW Towbar fitted and I've asked the dealer to check the alignmnent, scan for faults and any recalls & update the maps to the latest version.

I've also got a mate in the alloy wheel game, he has found me some 18" Cayenne wheels for $500 that I will get some snow tyres on in winter.

Will post pics when it arrives :)

Should get it next week, depends on how long they take to fit the towbar etc I guess.

As long as I have it for next weekend I'm happy.

Where are you located to need snow tyres for the winter?
Would not a good set of 18" tyres and some chains do? You could then use them for other trips.

I drive to the snow every weekend, often across the Alpine Way to NSW in winter - chains suck, snow tyres are to specifically avoid them.

The performance of proper snow tyres is just something else.

Lots of regular Victorian skiers use them, they're not so much of a thing in NSW as the roads aren't as hairy.

G'day
Re snow tyres, mr VW advised against fitting chains to the standard tyres on the R50.
When I said "but it must snow in Germany" he replied that everyone fits winter tyres.
And that's the case in say Canada too. It's just us Aussies out of step.

And those winter tyres would be fitted to sensible 17 or 18 inch wheels on a Touareg [no 17s on the V10, I know!] as it is illegal in Germany to swap repeatedly tyres on the same rim.
