As a follow on...I recently spent 4 hours updating the firmware on my daughter's '05 A6 so that we could connect an AMI to the MMI system...so that she could connect her iPhone.
Kinda the same process...three passes to upgrade the firmware, with some risk of bricking the MMI. Have to use a battery tender to do this, as the ignition has to be on the entire time...and it really did take 4 hours of downloading/updating.
Fortunately, it worked, and I didn't brick anything.
...then she informs me that Spotify doesn't work and she has no music on her phone to stream... Kids these days, sheesh!
