Hi, Can one shed light on electrical issues?
All is well to start with, then instruments lights go out together with main beam head lights plus various others. If you switch off and start again then all is well for a while.

VCDS says ; Cent. Elects. 00455 control module for access and start and 004 no signal comm intermittet.
Steering wheel, ditto.
instruments, ditto and 00447 over voltage 001 upper limit exceeded.
CAN gateway, ditto.
I have not been messing with it and have replaced electrical components. No fuses are blown not even under seat.

Any ideas good people?

The VW CAN Bus system is notorious for being sensitive to low voltage. Is there any chance your battery may be on the way out? I would, as a starting point, check the battery voltage with a good multimeter to see what you get with the engine off overnight. Should be above 12 Volts, I would be looking at something like 12.3 to 12.5 volts.

Just a thought.... not an answer.

How old is the battery? How did you test it? The battery seems to be the #1 go-to solution to electrical problems in these vehicles. Make very sure the battery is good before you start replacing modules.

Have now carefully checked battery and it tests fine, resting voltage 12.5, keeps above 8 volts whilst cranking and less than year old and starts no problem.

Engine running voltage rather low at 13.6 but it holds to that even with every electrical gadget on.

And here is a weird bit, the clock resets when the fault occurs, not too fussed about clock but it would be good to know how fast I am going, the joys of speed cameras.

8 volts is not acceptable. Log during start. Anything below about 9.4 will set all kinds of faults. Replace that battery.
