Hi all,
I'm new to the forum with a 2012 V6 TDI, and stoked to be here! I've been a VW owner for over 10 years with different cars, but am most excited about being a treg owner. I've done a bit or research, but a lot of this is Australian information questions.

-Any mechanic recommendations in Melbourne to install the lift/general maintenance? I'm new to Melbourne...

-Has anyone used a forge motorsports lift kit - I can only see one - they seem to be a fairly new product out of USA, with not much info on it.

-Rooftop tent setup - has anyone used the hard top King tent on a Treg and what roof rack do you recommend? Thule?

-I have acquired some 32" BFGoodrich mud terrain tires (255/75R17) - is there a rim that could fit with these specs? Or is it better to sell and get the right fit? They are off a new Jeep - stock version.

Thanks all, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome Jason

For a list of reviewed and recommended Touareg specialists (service/repairs etc), have a read of this thread : List of Auz wide mechanics for treg nomads

In my work, I have spoken with Dean at We operate from our 1,000 porcelain-tiled square metre factory in Spray Avenue, Mordialloc and specialise in VW, Audi, BMW, Mercedes Benz, Porsche, Ferrari, Lamborghini reckon he will be able to look after you with no issues. Talk to Dean about those tyres. You may well be looking for Porsche Cayenne rims, but at 17" may be difficult.

Hey Steve! Thanks for the welcome, good to be here.

Mordiallic is in my 25km bubble, so that's great info I'll be in touch with him. Thanks!

Cheers,

didnt go for air suspension? overall its awesome for offroad and onroad. 32s could be pushing it, might need adapters and some mods.
Roof top tent...try james baroud....cant stand the king brand every tom dick uses on their toyota, perhaps its fitting for those brands :)

I did get air suspension. I guess I was thinking I wanted even more lift. But if it’s enough space for muddies without the lift I’d happily splash the cash elsewhere. I won’t be doing rock crawling just dirt roads, maybe a bit of river crossing and easy tracks for remote camping.

Thanks for the tip on the tents, I definitely don’t want to join the sheeple.

cheers

Great, then simply get a set of ATR or MTR upto 30.5....and you'll be fine...anything beyond that you could be close to the inner suspension bolts or the front inner liner....from my experience this will get you to most places without a sweat.
just use high or xtra suspension level as required...
