Here's a highlight set of pics from Thursday. As others have said, the trails, stops, and weather made for a great day!

Rally Pix

Here are some more views and sights of the Rally.

Touareg Rally 2011 Ouray pictures by Rickanns - Photobucket

We had a grand time and the weather cooperated beautifully for once. On Tuesday this week, US550 north of Red Mountain Pass was closed in both directions due to mud and rock slides! This is the prime route from Ouray to Silverton, Red Mountain Mining District, and Corkscrew Gulch.

If you have any interest in wildflowers, this year was resplendent in American Basin and Yankee Boy Basin. Three of our ladies have become enthralled and experts.

Hello all,

Ah, thanks for the memories and I am oh so jealous.

Looks like more snow and flowers this year, over last and a wonderful time.

I continue to get worse so the Treg going to a new, good home that can actually use it was still the right, though sad decision.

Good news is that I finally get to see "the specialist" I've been trying to see for 8 months on Aug 16th. Since my birthday is the 17th, this is LITERALLY my birthday present this year. Not expecting miracles but as a "soft tissue" rheumatologist, she is the one that's going to help if help is possible.

Stay well all, looked like a great rally, and sorry we missed it . . .

Any new wines the wife and I should check out? :drunk:

Rick, that was ours! It was Creekside Cellars of Evergreen, CO. The wine was a 2008 Petit Sirah, available for about $35 locallly.

Sorry they don't ship to Texas, but I could probably bring a bottle by on my way back thru.

I don't remember the white.

Siberian, tow equipment is highly recommended to our attendees. I ALWAYS carry my big ARB snatch strap and shackles, shovel, and full size spare when on the trail. I haven't needed any of them this past year.

Both whites (only 2) were Sauvignon Blanc's,

The Kendall-Jackson narrowly won over the Santiago Station.

Yeah, I'm Lame. I have pix to post and wine results to post and all that. Recovering and working through stuff.

...and still no pix. I have most of the albums sorted out - I did not do many shots of rigs or people this year. It was more scenery - and on at least a couple days the cloudy skies or my forgetfulness about the exposure adjustment (bracketed, then forgot to reset to 0) has had me working nightly with Adobe Lightroom. Nevertheless I do have a few winners.

So, speaking of which - I am making a trip to the San Juans (and maybe other places) over the next three days (tonight-Monday). Focus is on landscape photography. It maybe a bit soon for true Aspen fall but I got to do it now - my next three weekends are booked. I may be doing some webcasting, either on the ustream.tv Touareg Rally stream mentioned earlier - or more likely on ChaserTV Live Weather Video On Demand as "WesternStorms".

Just depends on the weather!

(Kinda expecting to see some snow tomorrow morning)
