This is a review on my opinion of the Malone/Tunezilla TCU tune for the aisin 1000 8 speed trans in the 3.0 tdi vehicles. Im writing this review as I noticed there is NO reviews for this tune that I could find. I purchased this tune on Tunezillas 15%off spring sale. I went for the tool rental version to flash my TCU as I think most people will. Ill admit I had an issue with the tool which was quickly rectified by the support staff and id definitely rate their help/care as a 10/10. I will also state that I currently have their stage 2 deleted engine tune on my vehicle that I enjoy immensely.
Onto the tune itself, I had a pre-fix TCU before flashing this tune and im reluctant to report this is based off the post-fix dieselgate tune. The third gear hangs until the engines warmed up and greatly reduced engine braking are unfortunately a feature with this tune. Why they would base this TCU tune on something most people are actively trying to get away from is beyond me. I will say the shifts are noticeably as least twice as fast, especially in sport mode and the kickdown on the highway is a night and day difference. If you currently have a post-fix TCU tune I would say this is definitely worth it, otherwise id say save your money. The sale price of $650CAD was tough, let alone the full price of $800CAD. It pains me to say this but I flashed my stock pre-dieselgate tune back on before mailing the rental flash tuner back. This is just one mans opinion and yours may vary, I just hope to clear up some questions some may have and answer some questions I wish I had answered before swiping my credit card. All the best,
Korey
