My two year lease is up next month and I just received a post card in the mail from vci for their Touareg lease continuation program. You can extend your lease for up to another 6 months and get $100 off your monthly lease payment or receive $4,000 off the lease buyout price. This is perfect timing for me; I have been really reluctant to let my TDI go. My buyout seemed pretty high ($44,900) and I was doubtful that I would be able to talk them down enough to have it make sense. I also was considering pre-ordering a V6 TDI. Now I can wait till they arrive and decide if I’m ready to give up my v10 rocket.

I wonder if a chipped V6 tdi will be equivalent to the v10. My guess is it will…

The Market on SUV's has tanked. You should call VW and see if they want to make you a deal on the buyout. Perhaps you could save a bit of money, find out what the current asking price is for yours in the market then offer them the same money with a CPO!

Personally I would have it independantly appraised - take it to CarMax if it's not too much of a trek. If you've got your eye on the 6cyl TDI go for the extension and trade her in. Some other lucky Treg buyer will get the benefit of the market slump (or crash - what ever you want to call it). I usually hear of folks get taken for a ride with leases, I'd love to hear a story where someone made out ahead.

Good luck!

I am sure that some of the manufacturers are getting aggressive, I doubt that they want to be stuck with a bunch of used cars/SUV's and would take any serious offer. Cash is king. What is the change in the market being called in MD? Here it is the called a crash.

If I didn't own the 04 V8 (inherited from the wife) I would definitely have looked at the V10TDI as my tow/winter/kid hauler. A lot of deals will be available on a great vehicle.

I'd tell them to throw in an extended warranty and buy out the V10...

I walked into boardwalk vw in redwood city today and the sticker on an 09 vw touareg 2 said "make an offer"?!?! It's not that SUV's are not in demand (per say), it's weak domestic economic conditions...

I agree, just like the big sales (really low prices for goods) on Black Friday, all companies right now just want to sell now, get the money in the bank and NOT order any replacement items. They are all just going for a positive cash flo and get the stock out the door and keep the money in the bank until the American Consumer rebounds in late 2010.
