Has anyone encountered such a thing?

When I unlock the hatch, everything seems fine but the minute I squeeze the handle and the door begins to open, a very loud buzzing sound comes from the bottom area of the latch lock. If I had to guess, I would say it sounds like the motor may be going out on the hydraulics or possibly the motor that controls the latch itself? The same thing happens when the rear hatch is closed. As soon as the hatch meets the vehicle, the exact same noise happens.

The vehicle is covered under warranty but I can't tell you how much I HATE the dealership we bought our Touareg from and would rather not resort to dealing with them at all.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Is your hatch/rear glass able to rise by itself once its propped by a little? If you are having to raise it up by hand all the way through and it just stays put whereever you leave it, its your hatch/glass struts.

If you're under warranty, this will be covered. I actually have an appointment this coming Friday to get mine done under CPO platinum warranty.

Not sure which dealer you've been using. I have had very good luck with Larry H Miller on a few issues on both of my Vdubs. Not the same with a certain dealer in south denver.

Thanks for the reply.

You are right, the rear glass does not rise by itself. I don't have any warranty on my Treg. Did you get the work done?

When I operate the handle on my hatch I can hear a whirring sound like a motor, I assume it's a worm drive unlocking the hatch instead of a solenoid.
Maybe the motor mounts are loose or some gears are grinding.
