I have a 2005 Touareg with the 55w Halogen headlights in it. About 4 months back I had the passenger side low beam bulb burn out so I went down to the local auto store and picked up a set of Sylvania Silverstar Ultra H7 replacement bulbs that the lady working told me were the best.

I put them in and I liked how much brighter they were than the OEM bulbs, but after what I think is a relatively short period of time the driver's side bulb is out.

Does anyone have any suggestions on a decent bulb to replace them that's a bit brighter than the OEM bulbs? I don't mind paying more if the bulbs are actually going to last a little while.

I recommend either the Philips CrystalVision Ultra or the XtremePower bulbs, which I offer the members. You can say that the difference is one of luminosity vs appearance, as the CV bulb is whiter due to Xenon gas, but the XP is brighter with a longer beam throw, in a halogen color.

Either way they are pretty inexpensive ranging from $33 to $39 per set of two.

Regards,

Geoff

Excellent info in there. Thanks for the link. I searched around for a while, but I don't think I had the magic search terms to get that thread.
