I replaced the fuel filter housing and filter on my 2004 v8 tourage because it was cracked and leaking fuel. First time i tried to start it started up and cut off. Would not start back up. Coming to find out one of the fuel lines in the tank blew off. I didnt get it locked in. I attached the line back and it starts. But it turns over a long time before starting. Like the pump has to prime first. It didnt do this before i replaced the filter housing. Could it be a defective housing? Or mess something up when the line blew off? Any info is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Do you have VCDS. After changing the fuel filter on my Golf TDI last month I had to use my VCDS cable to prime the fuel system.

Did you replace the full assembly? Ie you didn't take it apart? If you did then the seal is not properly placed (o-ring) and housing leaks fuel a bit hence pump cannot build up the pressure. Again it could be something else.
