Went to the Great Sand Dunes National Park in Colorado 2 weeks ago. There they have an off-road trail with some parts really deep in sand. Tire pressure was taken down to 15psi to get through the soft sand.
There were some parts extremely soft and got my treg stuck. Was able to back out but I needed to proceed forward. Used the low gear and diff lock on my treg for the 1st time ever. Put it in neutral, changed to low and lock and great stuff, got the treg through all the tough extremely soft parts.
However about 2 minutes later, I get the dreaded beeeeeep, a yellow picture of the 4 wheels, axels and diff and something about ....Malfunction..... and service.... (dont recall the entire message).
Also, the lights on the selection knob were all flashing. Put the treg back in neutral and back to high gear. It doesnt switch to high. Error message stays.
So I put the treg in Park and switched it off and restarted. Error went away and treg back in high gear.
That was a sigh of relief. So I stayed in high until I got stuck again. Did the same as described above and the same thing happened.
When I got home, ran a diag and no error codes.
So this is my 1st true off-road experience with my treg. I thought my treg would be reliable as an off-road vehicle but the joy of taking it off-road soon turned to worries, something I did not expect of it.
ANy ideas why its malfunctioning in the low/locked option after about 2 minutes of driving in very soft sand?
