Hi All,

Been lurking for some time - Just purchased a 2004 T1, a while back, but immediately moved and left the car behind. Now, I have the pleasure of being reunited with my beauty.

It's a 2004 T1 v6 with steel springs. I'd like to put a 31.5 tire on it.

I've searched through the forum and found what appears to be an interesting kit, from Spaccer, here:

spaccer.com/en_US/order.html?m=3507&h=171

What I'm having trouble with, is figuring out if the 12mm lift (plus 3mm 'rubber unit' = 15mm?) will be sufficient for the choice of tire or if I should scale up to the 24mm lift (plus 3mm 'rubber unit', for a total of 27mm)?

Lastly, I was wondering if it's worth doing the front and rear different amounts. I've noticed that a lot of folks here will raise the rear more than the front.

I'd like to buy a kit ASAP, and I see that Alex seems to not be making them any more...

Thanks in advance for any input. Regards, Daniel

p.s. I promise to post pics!

Actually just noticed that they offer the 'rubber units' in 3mm and 6mm - what are the differences & pros / cons?

The conversion of the 27 mm is a little over an inch.

Unless I'm missing something, I don't think that's very much. Hell, my hockey puck lift on my old Cherokee was 2.5 inches.

Hey marshatherton, thanks for the response. You're right, its really only a little lift.

Although I've been looking, there doesn't seem to be too much info about the T1 V6 and what the widest diameter tire could fit would be. Assuming that it's around 30.6 according to a post or two on the 'maximum tire thread' can we assume that in order to get another inch of clearance we'd need about a .5" spacer?

I'm not sure if my thinking is way off or not but I want to understand what it would take to put on a 31.5-7" tire like the Falken Wildpeak AT/3w, in 265 / 70 / 17r

Regards...

There was another guy on here somewhere who made a custom spacer lift for his treg. He was able to put larger sizes on there.

The vertical wheel arch height is not the limiting factor - it is the horizontal width that is, hence 31.5 inches is normally deemed the maximum tire diameter before it starts rubbing the plastic liner on the front of the wheel arch.

Hi Noobytoogy, thanks - that's very helpful.

If I understand you right, this means that:

although air suspension could give more height, the overall tire size would be limited by the IC vents,

And

that a steel spring would likely take a larger diameter wheel because of the lack of IC vents...

...right?

one question:

1. Would the max clearance be increased by wheel spacers?
