Hello all,

I finally finished the mod that started over a year and half ago. Shimao's mods were the inspiration to me to get cracking at the tails lights.
The hardest part was to actually not do any cracking of the lenses.
In a nutshell this is what I did:
- open the lights (Dremel cut of wheel works great)
- remove unnecessary components in the lower sections
- build "light blocks" for the lower sections (signal light and backup)
- I used 8mm 0.5W LEDs that I ground down flat to stack 6 of three colors together. there is total of 48 of each color.
- build a regulator for each color, so the brightness can be controlled (16 in total)
- upper reflectors were drilled using a jig and 5mm 0.25w LED mounted
- for break lights I used hi power (7w) bulbs from V-LEDs.com, I wired up all 4
- lights are configured in two modes: daytime with red signal lights and night time with amber signals. This is because the red signals are way more visible in sunlight.
- The lower sections are duplicated in the inner lights in the tail gate
- inner shrouds were painted black and lenses tinted from inside with "Night Shades" spray paint

Do I see a small business starting here? Custom Canadian Treg Lights? :) Great work. I like the full light look at night.

I know a guy that might be able to help you manufacture these. He is local in Vancouver.

Okay, enough with the tease... how much can I pay you to make a set for me? :)

Very nice but I think that involved quite a bit of work. Really like the orange and red blinkers

Thanks for the kind words, yes it was a ton of work, but I had fun with it.
Headlights are next.
Cheers.
