Shimao,

If you can to the design in my post http://www.clubtouareg.com/forums/f64/led-tail-lamp-45355-7.html#post232179 I will order. I have not ordered yet.
If I go for option #3 where I will send you a set of taillights....when do you need them by? How long would it take?
If that does not work out I will order option #2.

I am thinking of getting a second set of lights and ship them to you with something from good old Canada.

Regards,

Alex
Hey Alex,
I'm also going with option 3. I was thinking if a few people go with option 3 we can share the cost of the tail lights. Unless you just want to keep an extra set.

Del

Sounds like a plan. There will be an extra set floating around after.
I am not sure about you but my 2010 has the dark red rear lights and I was thinking of getting the same to get modified. Does your have the red or dark red tails?

We have to find out from Shimao if it is okay with him to make one set after the other rather than making them roughly at the same time. With shipping once one set is completed it might take a while before he can work on the second set.

Alex
Sounds good to me.

Let me know.

Denis, can you please send me your complete name, address and e-mail so I can forward it to Shimao-san. Folks please, include your name, handle, year and make of vehicle and option desired so I can forward a table to Shimao-san. Thanx for your help

Hello Greg,
I have not seen a paypal request yet. He does have my info ?

Thanks
Del

Try putting a little force, otherwise the lens moves, and use the cutter again.
Don't want to sound too much like a idiot ,but Shimao if you are still making a few of these is there any chance you can make a small video so I/we can see the best way to do this. If you cant its understandable.

Thanks for the led
I sent you a little something hope you like.

Manage to get one light ,but cracked a piece of the other. I wonder if a dremel tool will work better in removing the lens. The problem occurs when you start poping the lens after you scar the plastic. I did it a few times going around the lens at least 4 times.

Okay maybe I'm just plain dumb, but I'm not understanding the resistor setup.Im going to post a pic on how I think he is saying its connected,

thx

Please paste the resistance the body of the Touareg.
The gap between the lens and body.
39Ω is for the position
8.2Ω is for the stop

Resistor has no (+-)
Please connect Touareg's wirings Parallel.[/QUOTE]

I have no idea as I don't speak Japanese (other than a few choice phrases). But let's see if this makes sense:

Place the resistors on the back of the housing (between the back of the assembly and the frame). I would NOT place them on the plastic as they may get hot, so I don't really know where you would place these... Maybe make a small insulated platform with a piece of metal?

Place the 39 Ohm resistor between OUTER CONNECTOR WIRE 1 & INNER CONNECTOR WIRE 3 in parallel and the 8.2 Ohm in OUTER CONNECTOR WIRE 2.

The resistors, of course, have no + or - polarity

As I didn't order the kit, I can't really see other than the drawing and I can't make that out in your drawing. But does that make any sense?

Hey Greg,
Here is how I connected the wires. I think its wrong as the brake lights do not light up brighter when i hit the brakes. Check my 2nd drawing the first was upside down. This is on the right side corner.

Well, those resistors need to go from ground to line as extra load, hooking them up to the same lead is not gonna do much. I would do both sides, then test.
Cheers.
Not sure what you mean buy(needs to go to ground to line as extra load)? can you expalin a bit more in details. So, I dont have the connected correctly?

Thanks for the help
Del

never mind the colors, go by the pin numbers, they should be inside the light socket.
The brown ground is correct.
After all the messing around with these lamps cracking one and getting annoyed finally found out that I have a bad led. Happens to be the one thats already sealed. I took the other led and intsalled it on the right side and works fine the I took the lamp apart and tried it on the other side same thing. I'm not going to waste any more time on this. Led will be factory on my next vehicle too much trouble for me. Hope everything goes smooth for you. Good luck

Del, with all due respect, there were several options available. One of which was to have the taillight assembly shipped to Shimao-san for a plug and play install.

You and everyone else knew that Shimao-san does not speak English well. To now vent frustration as to what you'll do next is uncalled for. A broken LED does happen, whether in shipment or from the factory and Shimao-san has offered to either refund or exchange the broken one. Secondly, by opting for option 2, you assumed a certain understanding of electrical circuitry which would have made the resistor connection if not obvious at least clear in spite of Shimao-san's lack of command of the English language.

So let's keep the frustration etc. down, and for everyone else know your limits! And if you're not comfortable with the install instructions either buy a full kit assembled or find something else to modify.

I'm not blaming anyone for the led being broken things happen Trust me I know I deal with very expensive photography equipment every day. I was just frusted having a light break on me and led not working after sealing the tailamp. I'm not sure where in the rule book here in this forum says you cant write down if you frustraded or not. I understand Shimao does not understand english as I dont understand Japanese. He seems like a very nice and understandable person as he pm me and offered another or a refund. I dont see where I went off line with these messages and your right maybe" I should go modify something else"(sounds rude to me).

Thanks for you time have a wonderful day:D
