I would like to mount an LED light bar on the front of the cargo basket I have on the roof on my 2010 Treg. What's the best way to get power up to the light bar? I would like a clean installation...I don't want to be able to see the wires when it's all done, if possible. Any suggestions? Run the wires under the weather stripping in the door up to the roof?

Here is a picture of the cargo rack I've got. I haven't really decided if I'm going to mount the LED light bar on the oem VW cargo bars, or mount it on the actual cargo bracket that's attached to the rails. Either way...I'm just trying to find a nice and clean way to run the power wires to the LED light bar. I'm sure someone's had to have mounted a light of some sort up on the roof...how did you run your wires to that they look clean, and not exposed? After looking at it a little closer tonight.....I'm still having a hard time trying to figure out how to do it.

This is the end result I'm looking for......I see the power wire coming out of the left side of the light bar, but I can't tell where it's running to. Any ideas?

Have you tried taking off the entire roof rack? There are probably holes that drill into that roof. That would be a good place to start. You'll inevitably have to go in through the roof at some point. My advice is to find something already drilled, then seal it.

To give you an idea, look at light bars on police vehicles. They go through the roof, then seal it, and you really can't tell.

Also, what kind of roof rack is that? I'm in the market

The roof rack itself is factory VW.....the cargo basket on top is a Curt brand basket that I got off of Amazon.

I haven't tried taking the oem roof rail bars off of the Treg.......if there are any hole, I'm assuming that bolts would go through the in order to hold the bars on. Not sure where I would fit the wires through. And I'm not sure I want to pull the headliner out in order to get wires through....I'm hoping there is an easier way!

I don't see why you couldn't run it down the rails and in through the rear hatch. That's the route I am planning on taking with a few led light pods soon.

This may or may not be useful. The Touareg Expedition Model had optional Lights on the roof rack, and they used an OEM connector through the "A" Pillar.

I have attached the pages from ElsaWin showing the factory approach

Kind Regards.
