Hi everyone. Dawn again. I have some leaks I found which are driving me crazy.

One is on the passenger side footwell. When I accelerate quick the water comes draining in and then soaks the carpets.

Second leak is on the driver side footwell. When I take corners at a decent speed the water comes leaking into the cabin by my left foot on the footrest. I have to take corners really slowly otherwise it’ll leak into the cabin

Third leak is behind the driver seat, underneath the passenger footwell. The air vent is making this sloshing noise and there’s water flinging into the cabin.
Every day I have to dry out the carpets and clean them with a carpet cleaner to make sure they don’t go bad and I don’t want them to be too wet to the point where they both smell bad and ruin the electronics.

I tried the AC drain hose previously and it worked for a bit but came back again and I’m taking the car in on Wednesday to get looked at and also serviced and I need some help in figuring out where these leaks are coming from. It’s driving me nuts. I can’t share video on here so I screencapped the videos I took to-better illustrate what the problem is. I need to find a solution so I don’t waste any more money trying to locate these leaks. If this is something I can fix myself please do share. I would love to finally fix my leaky Touareg and keep it pristine.

Thanks a bunch!

Unfortunately this isn't a rare situation, I hope you have a good dealer you can trust. It would help if you stated whether the car has a pano roof and what yr it is. Dealers usually have to drop the head liners as most issues are the drains separating tubes in one or more of the 4 drains.
Good luck .

As Tadpole said… this is a known problem with all Touaregs! Or potentially…!
There are many threads on this website explaining various problems with not proper maintenance.
How old is your Touareg?
Items to check:
1) remove bungs in plenum area so any water can drain out properly.
2) ensure AC drain pipe is not blocked
3) check 4 corners of the sunroof for unblocked drains which goes into plenum area and then drains out from there.
4) Check all rubber bungs on fire wall that they are sealed properly.
5)important - drivers foot well. Ensure carpet is dry underneath and very important, ensure all wiring /connections / relays, etc is dry and sprayed with a WD40 or equivelant. If not done… it can give you headaches and problems with electrical faults to Ying-Yang !!!!!

also theres a drain in the firewall to the left (passenger side) of engine when viewed from front, its fairly low but can be reached from top. It has a rubber flap that sticks on the end, once freed the water will pour out.

Roof rail seals will fail and cause leaks, but mine showed up in headliner and A Pillar. There are drains beneath the hinge cover on rear hatch as well that need to be cleaned. Once you fix your leak issue make sure you check wiring in footwell. Good luck

Anyone able to help??
Dawn hi. There are rubber bungs in the door sills on both sides of the Touareg. Pry them out and stand by with a bucket! Do this soon as next is water will seep up ( by osmosis) the loom covering and corrode a join. When this happened to me it stopped the car entirely. VW charge a heap for the fix, a home mechanic can do it but it takes a while to pull everything off to get to the corroded join.
let us know how you go.

I will put my money on the condensate drain from the Air Conditioner. Upper right corner of the Left hand Side footwell. If you get water coming into the footwell on hard cornering or braking, then its is coming from an overfull condensate pan. The rubber drain hose simply passes throughthe firewall to the outside. Pull, clean and replace. Job Done. Should an annual activity, but nobody tells you these things.

Kind Regards
Stuart
