so long 4xmotion !!!! So long Touareg ..... hello .... who ???

It appears that the xenon headlights come is 25 watts and 35 watts on the T4.

Check out which ones you are getting even if it is possible, in the UK at least, to upgrade from 25w to 35w.

No VW towbar available in Aust until April which is annoying. Wiring issues apparently. Also it is a new part number. Love to know how the tow package differs.
this problem happens every time there is a model facelift/upgrade. You'd think VW would wake up to this by now.

Customers get pissed off when they pay for an 'accessory' and it takes up to 6 months for the 'components' to arrive/be installed.

To me it seems a little odd that some of the R-line standard features are not offered as options on the 180kw TDI. For example, only R-line offers paddle shifters and metal sports pedals.

Best option on my 2012 Treg was the interior Sports package, that for about $1,000 IIRC, gave me:
  • darkened side and rear windows
  • paddle shifters
  • metal sports pedals
  • aluminium trim instead of fake wood
  • heated steering wheel

And what's with the only wheel choice for 180kw TDI being 20 inch with low profile (45) tyres? Might look sporty, but absolutely useless once off the freeway.

Tyre pressure monitoring only on R-Line is pretty cheap of them. I imagine it only requires a reset switch and coding to activate. Oh well if I buy one I shall activate it myself without a reset switch.

Will investigate a Hayman Reese towbar, however I really would prefer the VW Electrics.

Hi,First post!
Im looking at the 150.
I noticed in the official Aussie specs that the 150 has been tweaked to 450nm torque from 400 and that the gearbox has the coasting function.
Some sources are stating that the engines will be the same euro 5 specs as the last model with no coasting function?

I hope the official specs are correct.

It also states that adaptive cruise control is an option on the 150 when optioned with the Driver Assistance Pack, then later states that DAP is not an option on the 150?

Online - they have updated the website...
About time they updated their site to show the 2015 Touareg.

1. There is no reference to google earth/services being available

2. Looks like the bumper bar lip on the R-Line no longer hangs lower, when compared to the rest of the range. I can only pick that the R-Line has extra chrome strips below the headlights.

450nm to 400nm thats not a tweak in my opinion ..... but i do agree with what you are saying

I test drove one a few days ago and no sign of Google maps and services and dealers had no idea what I was talking about. So I agree , not in the Australian model. I wonder though if it can be retrofitted with the same dongle being used on late model Audi's. I reckon it would be great to have.

I was hoping that you could connect the nav unit to your mobile as a hotspot and get google earth, or there should be a sim slot next to the sdcard slot, like on the Audi SQ5.

This is a bit disappointing as I remember the dealer showed me an info sheet with references to google earth, when I ordered the R-Line back at the start of January.

I will be calling up Volkswagen customer service on Monday to confirm whether it is available.

I wonder what the discontinuation of the 4XMotion will do to the resale value or popularity of 2011-2014 4XMotion Touaregs? Wonder if they will be sort after models in the future, or just continue to be the Touareg that not enough people wanted to buy, hence why VW have obviously decided to discontinue it here in Australia? Either way, a disappointing outcome for those of us who appreciate the extra ability and features offered in the 4XMotion.

Very disappointed with this release. To update my current Touareg I would want at a minimum the aerial view cameras, panoramic roof and tow bar. Not too impressed on paying for a packaged camera set up at $3500 and the RNS850 not even with google earth capability in Australia. And I won't go on about getting the Euro 6 engines which should take up the power and down the consumption to under 7ltrs/100kms.

The only positive outcome I can see is that my resale value will remain steady and I'll be able to experience another brand come a few months time.

I hope VW Australia reads these posts and can take something away, $100k buys a hell of a lot better vehicles now.
