Hi all,

I recently got my key fob wet and while it still starts and locks the car it will not remotely operate the central locking. The MFI gives a dead battery alarm but I have tried a new battery and it makes no difference.
I have a spare key but it is not programmed, is this possible to DIY?

Thanks for any help!

I believe it's not and had to pay the dealer to program a new fob. A used fob may not be reprogram able. All in all it was around $250 to have a new working fob.

Try putting it in a bag of dry rice it helps take the moisture out and may help get it totally dry and working

I believe only 2 can be programmed at any one time, so they will have to delete your old, then add a new one.

Hopefully, a bag of rice trick helps. I thought key fobs were water resistant/proof?
