I've been having a recurring issue with the parking sensors and the headlight/sat nav day/night sensor that I can't seen to get resolved.
Firstly my parking senors are sometimes 'going off' when I'm in traffic. Once you drop below the speed limit for the sensors to operate, they sometimes come on when I'm sitting in traffic queues. I'ts always the front sensors and they start going to the high pitched scream as if I was 12" away from hitting something, the thing is it's generally a car that's 4 or 5 metres away. The dealership have told me that its the paint on the sensors, the paints been put on too thick so it's causing the sensors to activate. The thing is it only does it occasionally so if it is the paint why doesn't it do it All the time and it's nearly always when it's wet.
Next is the day/night setting for the lights and sat nav. Even on a bright sunny day my sat nav is on night setting (black screen) and my headlights are switched on. Very very occasionally the screen goes to the green daytime setting and my lights go off. I also can't switch off my headlights, if I do 10 seconds later they come back on again, even in bright sunlight! I've got videos of this happening but the dealership say they can't get it to happen when they have the car in to the workshop.
I know it's not a serious issue but my car has an extended warranty and I just want it fixing but now they're just starting to fob me off and I'm getting very frustrated.
I heard that the parking sensor issue was well known, has anyone else heard this?
Thanks in advance.

Do you have VCDS to do a scan to see if it sees any issues/faults in any of the modules/sensors for the light sensing?
As far as the sensors, I have read that others have had to have them recalibrated. Did the dealership try that or are they just discounting the problem?

The vehicle has been in to VW and theyve had it for at least 3 occassions and they say they can't find or replicate the fault. Yet I get in the car to drive it home and it's on night mode in the daylight!
I've provided them with a video that I've done when it's been playing up but they just seem to discount that by saying they've tested it and found no fault.
As for the parking sensor issue, they came back to me and told me that because the sensors have been painted that it's not their problem, it's mine and I need to pay ÂŁ750 to replace the sensors! The big problem with their argument is that if you look at the new Touareg there are 6 front parking sensors, the two just in front of the wheel arch are painted in the factory but the other 4 aren't because they're not mounted in an area of the bumper that's painted, so there's no paint on them, they're black just as they came from the supplier!

I’ve always wanted a CR Touareg, but it seems all them have electrical issues unfortunately. I know the car has a BS extended warranty, but have you tried taking it to a specialist maybe and seeing if they can figure out the issue?

The front sensors go off frequently in traffic in wet weather on my 2016 2nd generation Touareg - I figure it's water running down over them, particularly when braking - there's 4 sensors, all painted!
