Is it possible for the transmission to operate on its own with a different motor? I assume it cannot, but I wanted to get the feedback anyways. I have an 04 V8 i?d Like to test with and gather all the error codes from.

It's been done with electronically controlled GM transmissions, so I'm sure it's doable with a VW transmission, too. But you will have to know how to hack the computer that is controlling it. The GM PCMs from the 90's were much less sophisticated than current computer control modules. But the GM stand alone controllers were really pricey when they first came out, too.
