Is This Touareg Worth it?

Hey all New Member here! I'm currently in the Market for a T3 Touareg (2011-2017)

There has finally been one that has come up for sale locally by a private seller. And I'm wondering if it seems to be a decent deal or or overpriced since it seems the market for these are all over the place between years, trims and VR6 vs TDI

So specs are

2011 Touareg Lux VR6
Black Uni Exterior
Anthracite interior
79,420 Miles on the odo

Interior conditioner seems to be 10/10
Exterior 9/10 has some chips in the front bumper.

The second and current owner has owned it since 2012 has multiple service records from being only serviced at The VW Dealer and has gone in every 10k for service

Owner is asking $16,500 is this too high? Avg price? Ok deal. I'm new to what these things are worth especially with the current inflation of everything.

Seems like a decent deal for a car with all maintenance, low mileage (for its age), and the current owner having had it 90% or more of the cars life. I am sure you could offer $15 and he’d accept.

I think it's overpriced, probably more like a $14K vehicle tops.
I paid $17.5K for my '11 VR6 LUX with 77K on the ODO in late 2017.
Similar condition albeit with a silver exterior.

Times BC [before covid] do not relate at all well to current markets.

12 year old vehicle, likely looks a lot better than we would if we were exposed to road conditions for 12 years. Personally I find it a bit difficult to understand that a used vehicle could / should look new.
There is a squillion members on here and a squillion views on what something is worth. If people with low ball views were prepared to sell an equivalent vehicle for the lower price, good, but it usually pans out that a persons buying and selling price differs, depending on which direction the cash is flowing.

My only comment is how does it stack up against others for sale. Regular service history is worth something, maybe a lot. If it is a good buy then someone will take it and it may not be you if making a decision is predicated on asking "us" if it is worth the money.

Yeah I get it, looked at it today it's a possible buy there are some chips in it, the literally only drove it when traveling other than that sat in the garage. Was never a main car so that probably explains how it's in such good condition.

I hear ya'. The whole plandemic has skewed the market higher than it should be but in my eyes it's still 14k tops.

Have you negotiated a better than asking price?
Honestly pull the trigger. If it's that great, ONE OWNER, ya... Grab it.
These are getting hard to find in great shape. Once my new car comes in I'm posting my 2014 VR6 Sport with only 65K miles up for sale. It's been family owned since 2016 with all service records. It's one of the cleanest around. I'll be asking $21,500

Local market matters a lot... you didn't state your location. Can you get another one this nice nearby for less? If so, get that one, if not this is a good deal. Around here (SF Bay area) that is an absolute steal, other Touaregs in that price range will have 2x the mileage.

16.5 sounds about right, especially for conditions/mileage. Might haggle it down to 15.5-16 maybe 'cause of minor exterior issues. I'd say it's a decent deal
good luck finding a 12 yo anything that doesn't have some road rash on the front bumper. its The things you can't see that I'd be concorned about and it seems that this owner has done his best.

you can always make a deal subject to a PPI and if any surprises come up either walk or renegotiate. As has often been said, you buy the owner as much as you buy the vehicle.
