If it were to be serious, you would smell something wrong. From the looks of it i'd have to go with a coolant leak, but if you can't smell coolant it most likely isn't. I've never had this problem with my Touareg before, only time it really steam's is when I take it out after a good car wash in below zero tempatures and the steam comes out of the grill from water leaking under the hood from the windshield. From the sounds of your vehicle, you might need an oil change or perhaps a tune-up? Unless it was cold, then that sound is normal. Not too sure, but if you left it out all night in the cold the sound is normal, and in that case ice and/or snow may have fallen under your hood which could have caused some steam from landing on your engine.
