I have a one month old 2008 T2 and love it but want to use my iPod without an FM transmitter. I considered having the VW iPod integration installed for about $350, but after reading several online forums, I decided against it. I don't have the navigation package so I don't have an AUX port.

Is anyone familiar with the USA SPEC Volkswagen iPod® Interface that takes the place of the CD changer and essentially creates an AUX port for the iPod?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
I have one and it works great. Got mine on E-Bay had a local audio shop put it in. One draw back is no song info shows up on the radio. I will never own a car without the Ipod connector in it again. Now all I ever use is XM or the Ipod.

I don't have the VW integration but i do have the Blitzsafe ipod integration which i absolutely love! I installed it myself as i do with all aftermarket parts but this was by far the easiest installation i have ever done. All you need to do is hook up a ground and plug it in. With the VW ipod integration you can not control the ipod through the ipod while plugged in you have to do it through steering wheel controls, while on the blitzsafe it is the opposite you can only control it through the ipod which is what i wanted and it is a lot cheaper. I would personally go with the Blitzsafe if i were you but i don't know what kind of trouble you would have with warranty issues. If you do go this route make sure you get four radio keys, i made the mistake of only getting two and ended up having to fabricate two more to finish the job.
So do you keep it in the glove box? I would guess you need to keep it out to control? That was one thing I liked about the VW one is I never have to see it.

Yes you can jump to the next song just set the Ipod to shuffle and skip songs if need be. I make a play list of things I listen to in the car. You can scan songs also by holding the buttons down. Radio and steering wheel controllers work. When it's plugged in you can't use the Ipod to scroll but you can unplug and do it then plug back in.

HAHAHA! Set 4754 songs to shuffle ;) I don't think I'd have the patience for that route.... no thanks. Too bad it's bot a real integration. It's also a huge oversight by VW to not have a 12v socket inside where the 1/8" audio input is located or to have a little notch for an ipod cable to come out through.

The bmw has these things and it is so simple to have done.
To each his own but I see now way I can scroll 4754 songs when driving anyway. My Ipod has more than that but I never use them all in the car like I said I make a car play list. The BMW one may be better but we drive VW's so we have to work with what we got. All the systems seem to work just pick the one with the options you want.
