Hey guys just got a quote from Allianz for comprehensive insurance for my T2 and was floored over $6000 per annum thought it was a mistake so rang them up and got the same figure. Yet NRMA was around $2000 ??

Can anyone give me advise on other insurance companies to go to that are reasonable. Thanks

M/V Insurance

Hi Guys,
I realise that I am talking about outer suburbs of MELB,
my insurance on new V6TDI was $630.00 with RACV. Jan 29th 2008.
40% business.
Someone is way out of line.
Specialised Insurance on a H1 Hummer two years ago $120,000.00 value, was
$1,270.00

Regards
Roger.

Just got a call back from Allianz..... yes they stuffed up but the new quote is still way off the mark from its competitors $3641 / NRMA $1534.

It appears if you do the quote online it varies from when you ring up even though the information is exactly the same .....go figure

Guess Allianz lose another customer

V10 under $1,000.00 . Forget the firm's name, but had a claim when I was hit at traffic lights and they performed very well.

ING about $1000.
Went up considerably when I listed the options.
I suspect agreed value might have been the way to go.

AAMI, N/E Suburban melb. Approx. $1000 for 65k insured value (way more than its worth)

Touareg is cheaper than my Golf; apparently due to more Golf's on the road thus involved in more accidents = higher risk

Er, mine cost $580 fully comprehensive. That's over age over 40, 60%NCB and rating one. Give Ozicover (Ozicare Car Insurance Australia) a go or Budget Direct (www.carinsurancequaote.com.au or 1800 304 067 (they are the same mob). Underwritten by A & G. I have 2 x policies and if yor over 40, you win with the lower risk.

The cost of insurance depends on a number of variables:
- Type of car - a car of the same value with the details below the same may be a lot more expensive due to the insurers experience with that vehicle (perceived to be riskier)
- Modifications / accessories
- How is the car kept overnight - off street, driveway, or locked up in garage
- What suburb - some suburbs are riskier than others
- Drivers age / experience
- Drivers driving offences
- Drivers claims experience - rating 1
- Extras on the policy - no excess for windscreen / hire car option
- Business or private use
- Discounts for other policies / motoring body memberships

All of the above are put into a complicated matrix which calculates the premium the insurer is prepared to charge to insure the vehicle.

It pays to shop around – most insurers these days have quote systems on the internet so it is much easier than it was a number of years ago.

Heys Guys thanks very much for all responses. I cannot figure out why they are more expensive for me I have a 60% NCB been with them for 3 years, 55 years old no claims etc etc.

Anyway going to write a letter to the GM to ask "what the" when comparing apples to apples. Thanks for all your replies and options.
