2004 v10 Touareg, just got into the car, instruments , mfd display radio and wipers dead, everything else working fine, i.e. Horn indicators (although no clicking noise) back wiper ok, my handbook is in Italian which isn't helping, I've checked a load of fuses but so far nothing

Does anyone have any ideas or even which fuses I should be looking for

Thanks ?

Have you been doing anything to the dashboard like moving the radio?

I seem to recall the wipers not working on someone's car because the top left hand corner of the radio wasn't properly pushed in. Yes, yes, I know it sounds daft but it's why remember it was something like that that was the problem!

I missed the V10 bit.

Yes, in very simple terms, your under seat battery runs the ancillaries whilst the one in the boot/trunk is the starting battery although the under seat battery will, if the boot battery drops below 11.5 volts, start the car by shutting down things it would normally supply during a boot battery start.

This self study programme is well worth reading if you haven't seen it. Whether it will help you right now I simply do not know!

Just thought to post some more info, the old battery was a Bosch S5 11 months old, this is the third battery for the front of the car in 3 years, tried to claim on the battery warranty but battery shows fine after a charge out of the car, given up on warranty claims now, easier to just buy a new battery every year ..... The new battery always solves the issues , which can be anything from not starting to multiple faults showing

Sounds like you might have a electrical draw draining your battery. I only say this because I was having a similar issue, interstate batteries charged up their battery and after a week or two same issue again. Found it was my radio. Replaced and now it's fine. It wasn't powering down. Maybe you can have dealer locate what is drawing power possibly.

The car has been in the main dealer numerous times, even tried the Porsche main dealer, as they had similar issues with some cayennes, basically there is definitely a something running down the battery, the radio was checked in Glasgow by a specialist installer...(ended up buying a unit from them) but it's completely random and no one can identify the fault, the kessy unit, alternator, battery cables, door handles, various antennas. Back and front Etc Etc replaced, .... All works fine for a week or so after each repair then same old.... Used to drive me nuts but having the emergency start battery means that it isn't more than a minor inconvenience ....most of the time!.
