HEllo all.

I have and Australian 2005 Touareg, and the display has dulled off in the centre of the instrument cluster.

Putting my electronics tech hat on i suspect the heat in the car has damaged the display, but i am struggling to get the cluster out..

Could someone point me in the right direction for some instructions on how to remove this part...i have googled but had no real luck.

Is yours a colour or red display?
I recently had my colour cluster repaired due to the LCD display going dark and showing no information.
Dealer replacement cost of cluster about $2300 for a refurbed unit.
I had mine repaired for about $600 in the UK.

Try these instructions.
Make sure to remove the RHS fuse cover first which is not show in instructions.

G'day guy's.

Thanks for the help.

Mine is the red display and I have found a replacement display on the net.

Its getting really hot and as a consequence is dulling off.

With my electronics tech hat on, Heat and LCD's dont mix...

Did you get it out yet?

For me the only problem was removing the plastic visor, as the two pieces were plastic-welded together and the Bentley picture showed them separate. It was counterintuitive. IIRC one must push in and perhaps up a bit on the "brow" to release it.

G'day All,

Yes i did get this out, but haven't replaced the display as yet.

I suspect I'll need to remove the gauge needles, any idea how this is done??
