Hi, my 2004 v6 Toureg with 149,000 miles on it stalls as soon as it starts. It seems like it is not getting fuel.

One mechanic thinks it is an ignition sensor and the VW dealer said I need two fuel pumps for a cost of 1,500. Whom should I believe?

When the car last ran, it would drive and the RPMs would race and then drop to zero and then race again and then stall.

Please help. I love my car!

Start and run for 10-15 seconds, then die?

If so it is a fuel pump...usually drivers side, it is accessed from under the backseat.

I wouldnt let the dealer do it. Their motto is replace everything, eliminate anything it could be

Not cost effective

Funny enough, Aircraft mechanics follow this motto, if you need a hammer to fix it, then ditch it and replace
