Hey Everyone....hope all is well. I was rear ended in August (Jetta) and again in November (Treg). I'm a bit messed up, but alive. Is anyone on here an injury lawyer? or have experience in injury settlement cases? I have a lawyer, but I would love a second opinion/some insight without being haggled.

Cheers

Wow - serious bummer Zagg, but glad you are (mostly?) OK. Some of your outcome might be pre-determined by your state's insurance laws - not sure. I don't have much to offer otherwise - my personal opinion of personal injury lawyers is that it's a field of a bunch of ambulance chasers and a handful of really competent ones. The one's that are truly competent are word of mouth and tough to find I think. Again - only my personal opinion from the cheap seats.

I wish I had more to offer and so sorry to hear the news.

Sorry to hear that and i hope you recover from it all. Human body doesn't take such knocks well and injuries have long term impacts too, especially as we age.
Sorry dont have any advice re which lawyer but wondering how was your experience in both these cars from safety perspective?
My wife got rear ended in her little merc which has resulted in some long term impact. I rather she was driving a Touareg!

Thanks Guys, yeah it's been a while. I'm post surgery and in a lot less pain. Never be 100% again. Actually both vehicles had the least damage in both accidents. The Treg acted like a tank for getting hit at 50+ mph while stopped. The other car actually got under the rear lifted it up, pushed me through the intersection and spun me around. It took the hit well but the entire body was twisted out of alignment. The front hood stuck out over the grill. .........after all I read of possibly happening is that there could possibly be a mistrial or whatever because which accident did the damage to me?........they'll be blaming each other. I do have a lawyer I found through word of mouth. I did drop my first lawyer. They were very incompetent. I even had to change my first 2 orthopedic specialist due to their incompetence.........I would just love to chat with someone who's not a lawyer and has actually been through something like this to get a better understanding of how this will all go down at settlement/trial.
Any insight would be appreciated.

I have had 2 VWs totalled out in the last 4 years. Lost my 2005 VW TDI Passat wagon then my 2000 VW Golf TDI. Both were head on collisions. Both were young drivers and was their fault.
I have a friend of mine who was a lawyer and he helped in both cases. At first I thought I didn't need his help- but their insurance started trying to push me around and wanted information I didn't have to give them (they wanted COMPLETE medical history since birth of all 4 members in my family). I didn't do that- but if I did then they go thru and then claim your aches/pains then come from the time you slipped down the slide in 3rd grade (or whatnot).
Neither accident went to trial. In Montana the minimum coverage is $20,000 in medical per accident and that is what both kids had. So in both cases they paid out the $20k and then that was it. To get more would then involve a civil suit.
I now have nerve damage in my left arm and hand. Had 2 bad concussions. The second one was way worse. Also issues with my right knee. My memory isn't what it used to be. My wife still has a large knot on her shin and forehead from the impact from 4 years ago. She also has issues with her knee and ankle.
In both accidents they offered about 1/3 of what the vehicle was worth. Another month of arguing with the insurance on that. But was finally given an acceptable offer.

The whole process sucks and hope to never go thru it again.

That was one of the deciding factors on buying the Touareg. Seem to be safe in accidents and I like how much they weigh. (My wife was driving behind me when I was hit in the Golf by a Trailblazer. She said the rear bumper actually came off the ground a few feet, then the car was knocked sideways off the road and down a ditch where I went thru a fence and into a tree).
