I thought you deleted?

 

I was going to delete this pipe, and eventually the egr. But I can't get this stupid pipe out. I'm not proud of it.... but I tried some exhaust repair wrap on the cracked area. Did not work, shocking I know lol. I think I can use my little air saw and cut that pipe close to turbo and then I would be able to get the bottom bolt out.

 

Do you already have the block off plates and coolant rerouting kit on hand?

 

Shouldn't be an issue on the Armada.

One more issue I discovered today....

There is a slight bit a black soot visible on the turbo housing around the vane actuator shaft. Is any amount normal or is it new turbo time ?

 

Any tips ?

How the heck would soot get on the actuator shaft?! What is leaking for that to occur

I threw in the towel. Just traded it in on a infinity qx80.

Those bolts are fricking brutal. Soak overnight in lots of Aerokroil or WD40 Specialist. The get high quality T30 sockets on various flex head ratchets (tiny to normal). Its hard on the knees, back, and sanity.

 

Just FYI FunBard... the best stuck bolt or nut penetrant is a 50/50 mix of ATF & Acetone !! You should know that the Acetone evaporates fairly fast so if you make any amount and put it in say an oil can and expect it to last for a few weeks, it won't.. so buy the smallest amount of Acetone to make your mixture. BTW.. you can fast forward through this video.. LOL

 

I took the easy route and traded it in for a Infiniti QX80. I've been kinda looking for a rig with more room and towing capacity and the exhaust leak was enough to push me over the ledge. Still have 2 tiguans in the family though.
