Hey everyone,

First off, I did some searches but can't seem to find what I'm looking for, most of the posts are 2+ years old.

I'd like to add Bluetooth capability to my 2006 Touareg. I know I can get a little $20 aftermarket thing, but I'd like it to be integrated if possible, no wires hanging around.

I've got the in-dash navigation unit with backup camera.

I've seen the adapter that plugs in to the back of the stereo, where the cd changer plugs in, but I can't seem to find a current link for it.

The other option is to hide one of the aftermarket things in the arm rest console, but I'd need to get power in there somehow.

Has anyone here done this, have any more info?

Cheers,

Jayson

I used one on of the $30 adapter things (avail at Best Buy) and drilled a hole in the front compartment (forward of the gearshift) to put transceiver. Power comes from the 12V outlets. I spliced into the 12V and hid a USB power adapter beside the gearshift, underneath the fake wood panel. The output from the bluetooth adapter runs to the AUX input that is in the center console storage are below the armrest.

I am nearby, so if you would like to see the install, I will be glad to meet up.

I did have to use a ground loop isolator for the LINE OUT from the adapter AND a line conditioner for the power supply for the bluetooth adapter to prevent ground loop noise as well as ignition noise from coming through. This was due to the adapter being plugged into power while using it. If the adapter was not plugged in, there was no noise. Just an FYI. The ground loop isolator was about $20-$30, IIRC and the power supply conditioner was purchased years ago from Radio Shack. I'm not sure if they still carry them, but now there is Amazon.com. LOL!!
