I've programmed home links before, so I know the routing. For whatever reason, my new-to-me 2010 is being a real pain in the ass about it.

Pressed 1 and 3 and held till I got the fast flash - clearing out prior memory.

The pressed 1 and the gate clicker - slow flash for about a minute, never hits fast flash, and the the light extinguishes. The gate isn't rolling code, so that's not the issue. Tried the same for buttons 2 and 3, same results.

This flies in the face of what the manual says. Is there something I'm missing? Did VW add some obscure VAG setting to complicate life? WTF? A little help would be great.

Sorry if my censored swearing was too much. I figured a group of 4x4 owners could handle it! :)

It's not rolling code, the gate opener doesn't have a "learn" button. I just programmed another home link a few months ago (for this same gate) without issue.

I had a similar problem. Changed the batteries in my remote and got the Homelink as close to the motor as possible. It was a PIA to figure it out.

Ok, I just figured it out... Sorta.

I opened the moon roof shade and put the transmitter above the HL pod - took about 10 tries but I finally got it!

Well it may be a 4X4 in California, but if I called my Touareg a 4X4 in Texas I'd get boot stomped by a couple of ******** with big belt buckles and cowboys hats.

Although technically any vehicle with 4 wheels and all 4 are powered is a 4X4, in Texas a 4X4 is a mud bogger pickup truck with extended cab, a lift kit, big knobby tires, vertical exhaust stacks, a winch on the front, and a dog in the back. And ironically none have as big an engine as I have.

The easiest way to program is to out garage remote against windshield from inside car near rain sensor. The home link signal is transmitted from back of rearview mirror. Will work like a charm. Moonroof is much harder to get signal up there.
