Can anyone recommend a video or give pointers on self-installing a 7P Hood? I bought the same year & color when a fallen branch irreparably damaged mine. Any guidance or suggestions before I begin removal of the old and installation of the new one would be greatly appreciated.

They are not super heavy as they are aluminum but man are they awkward and unless you are using a cherry picker or a winch or something I can't imagine being able to do it alone

I got ripped off too... the stone chip on my leading edge is showing signs of rust after winter.

Touareg has used aluminum hoods since day one. In the early 2011s Volkswagen said they're dropping 400 lb of body weight but didn't state how. Porsche stated the same thing and an aluminum hood was one of the items used.

I think the bonnet on the same gen Cayenne's were aluminium as I've opened them many times when working on them at work and they feel much lighter

I had a local body shop do it. The hood was steel. It took two men no more than 15 min. to exchange. The only aspect needing care was detaching and reattaching the window washer spray line.
