Hi,

I have been following the Touareg forum for a number of years but just recently joined.

I started having engine problems with my 2004 V8 which i bought in the US and shipped to Prague, Czech Republic.

I have had the guys from VW Czech Republic look at it and they claim its a manufacturer's defect. In fact we found out that there was a recall for the particular engine. I have not been able to confirm this but this is what i was told by VW Czech.

Several pressure test have been done confirming it is the cylinders and not the head.

The mechanics are saying it does not make sense to repair the engine as i will have the same problem in the future. So i really dont know what to do now. I have been told my only option is to replace the engine.

I would like know if anyone has any helpful tips or comments or contacts to used V8 engines in Europe.

i had the same problem at 40.000 km and replaced the engine, it first started with misfire and low oil.
after replacing the engine every thing was fine up till yesterday 100.00 km and i started getting the same problem so im taking the car to the dealer today.
