Hi!

I have been reading this forum for a while, but not writing or telling anything.

I bought about month ago Touareg 3.0 tdi 2015 with 193kW and this is actually third Treg for me. I had about ten years ago 2008 and 2010 Touaregs for some time. Another was with air suspension and another was without. Those were really good and now it was feeling like "coming home". I have had W163, W164 MB as well. W164 was also really nice and I drove with it a lot. About 60k km per year three years in a row.

This 2015 model has pretty nice option list and maybe one reason for that is the first owner who was some small company in Germany near Hannover called Volkswagen AG.

Most important options for me from list are:
  • Park heater (Eber)
  • Heated steering wheel
  • Heated windscreen
  • Heated seats
  • Cooled seats
  • 4-zone climate
  • Air suspension
  • Panoramic roof
Only thing what I am missing is Biturbo engine (Previous car was A6C7 biturbo) and diff locks.

There is always something to do and top of that list is repair park heater which is not fully working, one off 360 cameras is giving error and before next snow more light should be installed and bigger AT tyres with small lift soonest. I see that there is lift kits available for steel spring but i dont have found anyone with bigger tyres with air suspension? Is there anyone with such a setup?

Also something needs to be done for audio system, but let see... Alpine dsp e800 is already bought, but let see what it will be.

Cheers!

Welcome and Congrats on your Touareg. You have all the options. That’s amazing. I am jealous you are able to aquire such a highly spec’d Treg. I would love to have air suspension. The ride is pretty stiff on steel. I am not sure that you can do anything to lift the Treg with air. I know their have been kits for Audi’s that would allow a larger range of height adjustments. But not sure that is available for the Treg. Thanks for sharing about your machine. Super nice.
Cheers

Thanks! It was quite miracle to find vehicle with this kind of option list locally. I was looking for car several months from Germany and Sweden and there was always something missing. And then this came up in the another end of Finland... Thank god seller agreed to come "half way" during eastern so i didn't have to drive 1000+km in one day.

Actually air suspension could be modified two ways. By VCDS or with hardware. But I was looking for experiences which way it would be better. I would like to have all features still working either way I am going to do it.

I did some cleaning already as inner fenders are common place to collect sand, mud whatever and I was really surprised how much there was stuff...

Left side

Right side

Bonus. behind windscreenwasher tank.

Audio project started also with sinus sweep.

I did also Dynaudio mod, but sinus sweep was 99% the same.

The first phase of audio upgrade is done.

Alpine PDP-E800 is installed to trunk with custom harness. Power is delivered from battery and nothing could be seen if floor of trunk is on correct position. Final adjustment is not done because Alpine software driver is PITA. It is not even close to quality product. Hardware and sound is top, but setting up amplifier without softaware is impossible. Local dealer is calling to importer, but what they can do if headquarter is not supporting. :(

Door cards get some treatment also.

Only thing which could be seen is Diamond Audio 10" subwoofer in trunk. It will disappear in some point but i need to do some glassfiber works.

Amp is in trunk.

Below trunkfloor just behind rear seat in the right corner. There is about 3” / 7cm gap between frame and trunk floor.

In the left side there are aircon pipes for rear seat and that can not be utilized. If you dont have 4 point AC there is also room for something.

Sound deadening took less than 30min / door so why not to do that when everything is already available. All my other cars has this treatment also except aircooled 911. I can really recommend to do this if door cards are removed for some reason.

Yes I agree. The sound deafening is not only good for speakers but road noise. I think it’s a nice upgrade if you are already ripping things out.
I do not have rear climate control so I do have space on the other side. I believe the side you gave your rear air control in.. houses the Dynaudio amp which I am gonna tap for signal but I wasn’t sure I want to tuck the amp away considering it may need adjustments or if it was to fail I would be able to work on it easier. But it would be nice to have it out of the way. Did you remove your rear seats to run your power wire to the battery?

ePa Congratulation on what looks like a great Car. I also bought a Treg 2015 at Auction 4 months ago to tow my Caravan and it is an amazing Car. Air suspension, Panoramic Roof, 20 inch wheels and it came with an Cream interior (unusual here as it usually only comes in black) and all the usual Gizmos. I hope you have a lot of Fun but you probably would not need the Cooling Seat option too often in Finland😂. Cheers Kurt

Thanks Kurtie!

Actually I use cooled seats almost daily if heating is not used. I might be some kind of hot a##... :D

According this topic: T2/T3 Dynaudio Amp Location it is left rear corner and not below trunk floor.

Here is picture from starting point. You can see small foam which is now removed and amp is there. Left side yo can see these 4 zone clima pipes which are going under rear seats.
Pre-FL models doenst have adblue systems and in the middle of spare wheel is good location for subwoofer. Now I have to do custom box to the left side of adblue tank.

Rear seats were not removed during installations.

In this location amp could be easily reached if needed. Just make trunk empty, remove trunk floor and You have amp in your hands. Some adjustments could be done by phone/application without physical connection to amp.

Havent seen either.

I think it is not so common option here, but now people are importing cars from Germany, Sweden, Italy etc there might be this kind of options for second/third owner. But still I prefer more heated seats and auxiliary fuel heater for winter period.

Actually I have had never cooled seats in my rental cars. Maybe too cheap ones...

So far so good. No problems or issues and happy with car. Still.

Alpine amplifier was changed to Helix 8ch dsp mk2 because Alpine software was not discussing at all with me. Now Helix is installed and adjusted.

Not too bad with stock speakers I would like to say.

I bought also 265/60R18 General Grapper AT3 tyres and put them Q7 wheels.

Company who did this audio installation asked this car for demo use to local event so I had to give some TLC night before. Hammerite silver spray to brake calibers and hubs and then some Tuf Shine tyre shine for Generals.

Summer is going to end and it is getting darker all the time and soon sun wont come up at all so it means that there is request for additional lightning and I should make decision which led bar I should install and should it be on the roof or hiding behind grille. There are also maintenance package waiting, I am planning to change oils in gearbox and differentials. Lets see how big mess I can do. Last time I did gearbox oil change i messed up a bit and then I spend more time cleaning than doing actual job.

Time flys.

This is so boring car. Just refill every ~800km and drive. No issues at all.

This weekend I replaced brakediscs to every corner, but thats normal maintenance. Discs from Brembo and pads from Bosch.

Some thought have been in the air if I participate local sound quality competitions next year… lets see. New speakers to front doors and custom sub box should be done. I dont know am I so interested in to such a things.

Hello and welcome. Beautiful Touareg and it looks like amazing things you are doing to her. I don’t understand much of it but it looks like you are really turning her into something to be proud of.

Please share more soon!👍🏻

Thanks!

I installed ledbar about year ago behind bumber as "stealth". It is X-Vision Genesis 800 which is quite common light here. Datasheet says that there is 5400lm and 10800lm (off road use only). It is not perfect when installed low but it is still giving nice support to vehicles own lights. Unfortunately automatic lights are lost with this. I dont have find solution to keep them alive with auxiliary lights.

Long time no actions. This works as it was designed to work. No problems at all. Air suspension had some issues but It hink I was reason for malfunctions because I washed car during cold period and airsuspension dehumidifier got too much humidity/moisture and then it was frozen. And then 40A fuse burned. I kept car in my garage for couple of days and didnt wash it. After that it has been working without problems. OBD11 gave some error related to level sensor and something but I think that root cause was frozen airblock.

This car has been turning slightly to right when driving and I took it maybe four times to alignment but it was still going as nothing done. Very frustrating and I was just about to change to another car. Then my friend who has similar pre-fl Treg had similar issues and he replaced upper front control arm bushings. I ordered same bushings and replaced as well. ! After level sensor replacement I checked actual values of sensors and whole vehicle was tilted to left... so call to this friend who has VCDS we did calibration to all four corners and KABOOM! it is now going absolutely straight now. I dont know what local VW shop has done during alignment but I strongly believe that they dont have checked actual height values with VCDS and it has been all the time tilted slightly and then it is impossible to get it going straight. Bushing replacement is easy "half day work".

Auxiliary heater is now burning very clean after I cleaned chamber with wetblasting.

Im also trying to learn leash car to grid every time when possible and installed Defa 4a charger because heavy auxiliary heater usage is battery a lot.

I replaced relay for ledbar to "smart one". It was something 200€ and totally useless. Money "well" spent. Douh.

Then it was time to visit local MOT inspection. 55€ for coffee.

During 2021 I drove ~25000km without any issues.

Once a year is good to write something. :D

After 55tkm with General Grapper AT3 I was feeling that those are very slippery and replaced wheels with studs. Now there is is spinning 255/55R18 Hakkapeliitta winter tyres.Very traditional choise around here.

At the same time I replaced Osram D3S bulbs to LED.

Left is LED and right side is xenon.

Around Xmas time I had time to spend in garage so I replaced subwoofer. No there is kicking 15" Diamond Audio with Helix M one X (1kW/1ohm)

Amp is installed below trunk floor.

With this setup I can say that there is enough "OOOMPH" now and still some useful space.

Should visit annual inspections again in near future.
