I retrofitted the heated steering wheel in my 2015 Lux. I added the required connection from J527 to the fuse 11 (10A) on the driver's side and one ground cable, and with the proper coding in the steering wheel module (J527), the heating works fine.
I want, however, also make the button work:
I built my own harness in which I connected the button to J519 (central electronic), ground and backlight power source according to this:
I stole the ground (brown cable) and backlight (grey) from the neighboring button. The backlight works fine, so I'm confident that connections 1,3,4 and 6 are intact.
The button itself doesn't do anything yet when pressed, and I wasn't able to find any specific long coding in J519 to enable to it.
I found a VCDS scan from someone with 2016 Lux with a factory fitted steering wheel heating. There are a few differences in J519 and J527 coding between theirs and mine, but nothing striking. Their J519 and J519 h/w modules are identical as mine, so there's no question if my modules support the button.
I am yet to verify the electrical connection to make sure I didn't make any mistake. I was very careful, so I doubt I managed to screw it up, but I'll check.
I'm almost sure there must be some kind of adaptation or hidden coding in one of those two modules.
Has anyone gone through this exercise yet? Any ideas where to look?
