Twice this has now happened. My headlight switch is turned to auto but after daylight parking in my garage I have, later, noticed the lights on.
I am certain I haven’t altered the switch.

Just now, 4 am I had to manually open the car and turn the switch back to auto. I am assuming I will need to recharge the battery when dawn arrives. An issue I shall want to correct - should I just put it on manual???

Turn the switch to "off" and see if and how tht modifies the behavior. If it's not responding correctly only on the "auto" setting, it may be the ambient light sensor, or something more involved. We will also be asking fro a VCDS scan of your systems to see which errors may be present.

I have read this 5x now and am still trying to fully understand what's going on.
1- With the light switch in "Auto" you pull into your garage while its still daytime and your lights come on. If so this is normal as the garage is darker than outside and the sensor senses this and the controller turns the headlights on.
Happens to mine during the day when I go through the car wash.
2- You have to manually open the car and turn the switch back to "Auto". Did you leave it in "Auto" when you closed/locked the vehicle and the switch somehow turned itself to the off position?
