Headlight

We got a tiny crack on our 2016 Driver's side headlight and found out it costs $1300 between the headlight assembly and labor-removing the bumper. Can this just be repaired with a couple bucks of super glue?

I shouldn't have used the term 'sealed unit', that was technically incorrect. What I mean is there should be a seal between the lightbulb and the elements.
As it is there is a shield between the bulb and the elements, not a seal.
Firstly, I see -0- wrong with being cost conscious and offended by the quote. I can afford what needs to be done, but not wasteful items.
Secondly, an idiot parking lot tap slightly cracked my rear tail light cover and it carried on for years untouched.

Bc cheeping out on a luxury car makes us all look bad. These aren't 04 Honda Civics that you see sitting out side a Pizza hut in the ghetto...

When I was in college I had a Ford five hundred ( Ew I know ) I left it parked and came out of class to see that someone had backed into it, destroying the taillight and cracking my rear bumper. Even though this was a beater I still spent the money to replace the taillight that day.

I think there may be a happy medium between being gouged on a repair vs. a practical solution. Although, that taped up Ford had a nice retro look! Your old 500 coulda been a contender! I see nothing wrong asking if there is another option before putting out 1300 shekels. I do see your point.

Is slapping a piece of tape or super glue onto a $1,300 bi-xenon housing located on a $70,000 car really a happy medium though?

Man, you sure don't see this kind of bullshit on the Porsche forums

The OP said a "tiny crack" which may well be hardly noticable. They have not been back to see the over reaction to a simple question which is probably just as well!! Porsche forums are full of members posts on how to repair things!!

That's where I saw the Jimmi fix.

Thank you
The Jimi Fix for Generation 1 drive /
prop shafts originated on a Porker forum. Yes, it's a bit ugly but it works and, because it costs nothing, saves owners up to US $2,000.

One of the key reasons these forums exist is to find economical repairs.

If you don't like people suggesting them then don't read the thread. It's their choice how they spend their money . . . . . or save it.

I woulda junked that car before I drove around with tape on my taillight.

You seem it sometimes happening on Audizine. It bothers me as well.

I sold my 2010 E90 3 Series in 2013 because younger and younger owners kept buying them and beating the **** out of them. I didn't want to be associated with them.

Refurbishing your lenses isn't ghetto, gluing them is

We're on the exact same page Lol. I had 3 BMW's which I loved. But they're in the past now and I don't even look at them anymore.

So sad. There was a Touareg with a Mercedes emblem on the grille not to far from where I live about a year ago. It made me sick every time I drove by it
Rofl 🤦

You understand that you're an exception, an outlier?
Not everybody can or even wants to keep their daily driver in concourse condition.
I saw a T1 for sale recently for $4000. I don't think whoever buys that is going to spend $1300 on a headlight lens crack. He might even come on this forum looking for a less expensive way to fix it.

Luckily new T1 headlights can be bought for a quarter of the $1,300.

And a smart repair to a cracked plastic lens is less than half the price of a new T1 headlight!
