I recently bought a 2012 Touareg Lux with the towing package. It tows my race car to the track magnificently except for one thing: The hatch does not open or close when the 7-pin connector or the brake wires are connected...

Any ideas why this would happen? I must add that my trailer does have LED lights...

This is by design. So that you do not hit your trailer with the hatch.

For some reason mine still opens as usual even with a trailer connected. Not sure why, but I have enough clearance so I don't really care.

I completely understand why the motor would not function with a trailer attached, but will it open manually?

Yes manually fine

Yes it definitely works manually...no problem there; i just thought it strange...
