Hi Guys, ive been a lurker on the site for a while but I have now have a reason to become a member and come out of the closet :D . My Touareg TDI 2007 V6 went for a service at Gosford VW service centre, they spotted a low pressure issue and have been trying to diagnose the issue... now they are asking for 22hrs worth of work to complete the diagnosis. Basically they dropped the sump, checked the fuel pump looks clean with no damage... now they want to drop the motor to get access to the chain/balance shaft which prompted the 22hrs of diagnosis

I am looking for an independent that works in the central coast that would be great before i decide to trade it in for a newer touareg.

I am pretty hands on and mechanically inclined but as I feel the electronics on european cars can be fidgety dont really want to work on this. If anyone has the service manual i can look at that would be of great help too.

first you need a real 'mechanic'. one that will prove you have an oil pressure issue, that is, put a analogue pressure gauge to confirm low pressure and how low, also 'behaviour' of oil pressure (maybe pressure limiting valve etc..)...... may also then do compression or leak down test to further investigate.. all very easy and simple tests before you start pulling the engine apart 'to have a look'!

there are a couple of euro specialists on the coast or in sydney... one in woy woy from memory

Thanks Matthew. Still waiting on them to put it back together....they had the sump out and the fuel pump looked at for any wear and tear. Hopefully get it back soon.

Who was the specialist in woy woy ? It would be good to have someone i can bring it into for mechanical issues.

You could try European Car Centre in Newcastle, very impressive workshop, spotlessly clean family run business and they specialise in Euro vehicles.
