Going to be changing the #5 glow plug with pressure sensor after getting a code. It seems that you must take care when removing and installing to not go over 20NM of torque. Are there any other tips/tricks out there.

Changed out the #5 glow plug without any issues. It's a 12MM regular deep socket not a 10pm thin walled socket that I thought. I sprayed some PB blaster before I removed it to help the process some. During installation I put a small amount of antiseize after second thread to help also. I read somewhere that you have to do a "burn in" on new glow plugs with Vagcom. I didn't do it and it started fine for me. I haven't had a code for that cylinder since either. All seems to be well.

Never EVER heard of a 'burn in' or adaptation for glo plugs. Plug 'n play! Apply electricity they get hot! Pretty simple.

Lol, glow plug "burn-In"! 40 years working with diesels and that's the first time I've heard that, an internet wisdom first!
However, one of the key maintenance rules with small engine glow plugs is that you always replace the plugs as a full set. If one fails, the others are not far behind. You wouldn't just replace one spark plug, would you?

And you cannot touch the ceramic/metal heating element of the glow plug during installation or else the oils from your fingers will cause the heating coil to over heat and burn out prematurely.....like the head light bulbs.

So I just order replacement glow plug from FCP Euro for cylinder #2 with sensor for my 2014 Touareg. Strange that everywhere I read it says to use a 10mm or to use the special VW tool which is also 10mm however it appears to be a 12mm.
