I am driving a 2005 model V10 TDI Touareg. What a nice vehicle!!! We have done 370 000km and I am not even halfway. Recently she started to “shudder” under hard acceleration. My first gut feel was that the gearbox is struggling to handle the torque and started to “slip”. As I mentioned, this only happen under hard acceleration. I have changed the transmission oil and during the same process also removed and cleaned the valve body. This certainly smoothed out the changes a bit but did not do anything for the shudder under high torque.

Can anybody help me??

x2.

Very well known fault usually occurring after 60,000 miles or 5 years, whichever comes first. Some go sooner, some go later, some don't go at all.

If it lets go, the vibration makes the car undriveable.

Can you feel any knocking/vibration if you place you hand flat on top of the centre console between the seats?

There are lots of threads on here - here's a couple.

Can be fixed for nothing, or $2,000 and prices in between.

It's easy to inspect the centre bearing but best done on a lift with a strong light.

You will see there is a outer ring of thick rubber and an inner ring of thick rubber and they are joined by a much thinner diaphragm.

This is what cracks or splits.
