Garage Homelink not working

Hey all, I can't seem to figure out how to work my garage Homelink system. I've followed the instructions per the owner's manual, and once I get to step 4, nothing happens at all. Any help would be greatly appreciated. 08 T2.

It probably means you have a rolling code garage door; this is good because a crafty burglar can't sniff your opener and play it back to gain access.

If you move on to the next page, there are instructions for that as well. It requires a second person to push the training button on the opener at the same time.

Thank you for that, but I also have an electric gate on the same opener. Would that also be rolling code or something else? Both don't seem to work.

The trick might be the "holding down the buttons long enough" part. When training my Homelink I have to hold the garage remote button down continuously for a lot longer than usual. Eventually Homelink learns the code.

I just attempted to just hold it down until it works, but it flashes slowly from the beginning, then just stops flashing altogether. It doesn't flash rapidly as the manual said it would.

I finally figured this out for our T2. A couple of steps were missing in the instructions and some posts.

We have a Chamberlain Garage Door Opener with rolling codes.

1. I cleared the old codes by pressing 1 and 3 for 20 seconds. A slower (1 flashing light per second) changed to a faster blinking light at (2 flashes per second)at 20 seconds.

2. I had to use the hand held remote first! Holding it near the button worked for me with a new battery. Pressed both the hand held remote and the #1 button simultaneously twice. The flashing light changed from slow flashing to the faster flashing. The Garage door did not open at this time.

3. I then pressed the "learn button" on the Chamberlain unit, walk back to the Touareg and pressed the #1 button once for 3 seconds (Fast flashing). The Chamberlain unit flashed the garage light one time. (Message received) I then pressed the #1 button again and the garage door closed!
