Fuel system cleaners?

Hello All,

I am considering running some type of fuel systems cleaner (gumout type product) in my 2004 V8 Touareg due to the fact that it has 50k miles. I wanted to ask if there were any types or brands that some of you have had a positive personal experience with?

I am always leery of using any of these types of products without doing some research beforehand.

Thank you for your input and/or suggestions.

Run a can of Sea Foam through it occasionally. This is a great additive that cleans, improves, and in some ways restores the perfromance of your engine. I use the stuff in every engine I own from cars and boats to lawnmovers and weedeaters.

It is a miraculous additive.

Great, thanks for the info. I am guessing this can be found at most all automotive stores?

Another alternative is Chevron Techron Plus, widely available. Factory recommendation of Porsche and Mercedes Benz, along with Corvette. Add 20 oz. to ~empty Touareg fuel tank, then fill up. Best to do this before every oil change, as the process results in added impurities in the oil.

Sea Foam

I get Sea Foam at O'Reilly's Auto Parts. When I first looked for it, Auto Zone did not carry it. I am sure other chains carry it as I found out about the product from a Motorcycle forum.
