Hi all,
A despondent Touareg owner here looking for advice. The last week I noticed a faint gas smell (stronger inside the car at the driver's seat it seemed). When I got in to drive t he other day it was really strong. Because I didn't want to drive it all the way to the dealership (reading online it was unsafe to drive) I took it to a shop close to my neighborhood.
They diagnosed it as a leak from the fuel tank and did the repairs. I picked it up today and noticed two lights on in my dashboard MFI that weren't on when I dropped off the car. I turned around and took it back to the shop and the owner and mechanic who worked on my car wasn't there. Another tech took it and came back to the waiting area a few minutes later saying he wasn't sure but the code had to d with brakes (which I need soon) or the transmission.
While waiting in the wait area I had been online on this forum and a few others and found out the two lights on are the cruise control and an exclamation point beside it.
I've never used the cruise control on my car in the 5 years I've had it. I told the mechanic it's not a transmission light it's a cruise control light. He said he didn't know but the car was safe to drive and to talk to the owner tomorrow. Not much help.
What I really need advice on is would this repair affect the cruise control? Now I can't get the light off, it's almost as it's stuck, and it may be my imagination, but driving the car it almost feels like there is a very slight resistance when I drive it. The reason I've driven this car and kept it is because it drives so well. Something definitely feels off.
I'm attaching a pic of the lights on from the dashboard, along with my repair receipt.
I don't think it's a coincidence my cruise control randomly chooses to short or whatever it's doing during a repair to my car with the fuel system. Did they not do something in putting back together the car? I know that had to go in under the rear seat, so are the cruise control lines anywhere close to the fuel system to where they may have accidentally hit a hose or something?
Any thoughts is much appreciated!
Thank you, Finn
