It doesn't plug into anything. It is supposed to be fixed to the side of the engine bay pointing up. Should also have a cap on it to prevent dirt and water getting in.
The air filter housing on the V6 TDI is nearly identical with the 3.6ltr, both have a metal heat shield cover on engine side of the filter.
On the V6 there is a sliding clip on the breather tube and this slides onto the edge of the shield to hold the breather tube vertical so I expect the 3.6 tube is held in the same way.
Ok. mine is a V6 3.2. Should be the same setup I guess. Is there a cap on the hose? There is nothing on mine. I don't get the cap idea as it would prevent the venting !!
any volunteers to upload a pic of this breather on the V6 3.2?
I found the part number is 0AA301047M but the picture of the breather on then internet does not look like the hose I have.
Maybe the previous owner replaced it with a standard hose.

4.2 v8 is the rubber hose, I found mine wrapped around my outer CV joint and am currently looking for the top side mount as it's still hooked up to the diff.
