Hi Everyone. I have the early 04 Touareg V8 (which is s pita to get parts for). So last fall my wife crashed the the Touareg and we just got enough money (taxes) to fix it. Had to replace hub, control arms, axle pretty much everything in the front passenger wheel area. Got everything together without much of an issue other than the spline from the front axle that hooks into the transmission. I tried hitting it pretty good to reseat it but can't get it in there all the way. Every time its not engaging and am driving with 3 of 4 wheels. Is there any trick to these cars that I'm missing or do you think I have s problem with the transmission internally preventing the spline from getting in all the way and reseating? Any info would be greatly appreciated as I don't have anymore money right now and don't want to take it to a transmission shop.

Take some pictures and post them. I have not had the half shaft off but seem to remember that it bolts to the flange on the diff and in that case, I am not sure exactly the issue you are having. Did the output flange come out of the front diff?

Maybe someone who has had one off will know more.

Got everything together without much of an issue other than the spline from the front axle that hooks into the transmission.

What do you mean with spline from front axle to the transmission?
Is it the spline on the propshaft, transfer case, pinion from the front axle?
I did a disassembly of the front axle a few months ago. Last weekend i installed it into my T2. Maybe i can help but i need to know where the problem exactly is.
